Candidates for Aesthetic Surgery
Board-certified plastic surgeons perform plastic surgery that will enhance the contours of a patients body, breast or face. To become a board-certified plastic surgeon, the surgeon, after obtaining a medical degree, must first complete 3-5 years of general surgery training and then must participate in 2-3 years of plastic surgery training. Some surgeons choose to participate in an additional fellowship in a specialty such as head/neck surgery. Plastic surgeries may be performed at an onsite surgical facility. For more intensive surgeries the surgery may be performed in a hospital, and might require one or more nights stay. If an overnight stay, the patient will be cared for by a specially trained staff. It is best to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine the various risks, benefits and costs of surgery. He or she can address all of your concerns and provide before and after photos of previous patients.
