Cosmetic Surgery Procedures
Liposuction is a procedure during which a plastic surgeon removes excess fat from localized fatty areas on the body. Liposuction is not considered a weight loss procedure and patients should be in good health prior to undergoing liposuction. In order to determine if liposuction is right for you, consult board-certified plastic surgeons as they have the most training and experience. After obtaining a medical degree, plastic surgeons usually undergo three to five years of general surgery training and two to three years of plastic surgery training. Some surgeons opt to undergo additional fellowship training in order to specialize in a certain area of plastic surgery. If you would like to find a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area, please use the Consumer Guide to Plastic Surgery.
